Cardboard.
Cardboard (or OCC), is our bread-and-butter at Town Recycling. Cardboard is used to ship 90% of products used in the United States. That's a lot of waste. The recovery rate of cardboard was over 75% in 2007. Hopefully, we can get that number up to 90% sometime this decade.
We will always buy your cardboard at competitive market prices. Just call us at (505) 452-9277 for a quote.
Some facts about recycled cardboard (per recycleplz.com):
Recycling 1 ton of cardboard saves 9 cubic yards of landfill space and 46 gallons of oil.
Recycled cardboard only takes 75 percent of the energy needed to make new cardboard.
Paper.
Paper is everywhere. Mail, magazines, flyers, newspaper... they're all printed on recyclable paper. At 33%, paper is the largest single part of America's waste stream.
Fortunately, paper is also one of the world's most recovered materials. However, when the planet is consuming trillions of tons of paper per year, even a low percentage of lost materials equals billions of tons ending up in landfills.
Recycling 1 short ton of paper saves 17 mature trees, 7 thousand gallons of water, 3 cubic yards of landfill space, 2 barrels of oil, and 4,100 kilowatt-hours of electricity – enough energy to power the average American home for six months.
At Town Recycling, we buy paper in bulk, bales, or bags. Office shreddings are also recyclable, and we'd love to buy them from you.
Plastics.
Plastics pose the largest threat to the environment of all recyclable materials. Plastics take hundreds of years to decompose, and most plastic is single-use.
We want to keep as much plastic out of landfills as we can. Plastic bottles, water jugs, and countless other things can be recycled, all you need to do is get it to us!
According to the CRI, Americans buy an estimated 29.8 billion plastic water bottles every year. An estimated eight out of every 10 of these bottles will end up in a landfill.
Town Recycling is happy to buy your used plastic materials. Just call or email us for a quote.
Metals.
Metals are the newest materials accepted at Town Recycling. Metals are some of the most detrimental products to enter the waste stream, because they never decompose naturally. They are also very expensive to manufacture. This makes metals important players in recycling. Recycling metals is responible, and smart too!
We offer the highest prices for metals in Albuquerque. We also don't have limits on the variety or quantity of metals we buy.
A few examples of the most commonly reycled metals are: Aluminum cans, copper, brass, radiators, steel, and wire (electrical, data, and copper). Not sure if we will buy your metal? Call us, or bring it by. We will give you an answer immediately.
